Allseas has secured a significant contract from TAQA for the removal and disposal of the Brae Alpha platform topsides in the UK North Sea. The scope of work includes engineering, preparation, removal, transportation, and recycling of the structure.

The contract covers a platform that has been producing since the 1980s. Allseas will deploy its flagship vessel Pioneering Spirit, the world’s largest construction ship, to lift the topsides in a single campaign. Once removed, the structure will be transported to shore for dismantling and recycling.

Allseas emphasized that its single-lift technology will minimize offshore work, thereby enhancing safety and efficiency. The company has already completed several large-scale decommissioning projects in the North Sea, further cementing its position as a key player in the offshore decommissioning market.

The Brae Alpha removal represents another milestone in the broader transition of the UK Continental Shelf, as aging oil and gas infrastructure is retired in line with regulatory requirements and industry commitments to safe and sustainable decommissioning.
