Maersk Offshore Wind has officially terminated a $475 million contract with Singapore’s Seatrium for the construction of a Wind Turbine Installation Vessel (WTIV). The termination notice was issued on October 9, 2025, despite the vessel nearing full completion—Seatrium reports the project was already 98.9% complete.
The original agreement was secured in 2022 by Sembcorp Marine Rigs & Floaters (now Seatrium Energy International) to build this WTIV for deployment at Equinor’s Empire Wind 1 offshore wind farm under a Maersk affiliate. With the cancellation, Seatrium is now scrutinizing the legality and assertions in the termination notice, while exploring both commercial and legal recourse, potentially contesting the termination or pursuing damages.
Seatrium has committed to timely disclosure of material developments and cautioned shareholders to exercise vigilance regarding the company’s securities.
