Saipem has received authorization to proceed with execution activities for the Hammerhead offshore development, operated by ExxonMobil Guyana Limited (EMGL) in the Stabroek Block offshore Guyana. The authorization follows the U.S. oil major’s final investment decision and marks a significant milestone in the continued expansion of offshore energy projects in the South American nation.

The Hammerhead project will be Saipem’s sixth major offshore contract in Guyana, reinforcing its role as a key engineering and construction partner to ExxonMobil in the region. Saipem’s scope includes engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) of subsea structures, flowlines, risers, and associated equipment that will support the project’s subsea production systems.

This award builds upon Saipem’s extensive track record in Guyana, where it has previously executed projects such as Liza Phase 1 and 2, Payara, Yellowtail, and Uaru. The company emphasized that its local operations and workforce capacity in Georgetown will be integral to supporting Hammerhead’s execution phase, in line with Guyana’s local content policy.

With Hammerhead, ExxonMobil and its partners in the Stabroek Block continue to advance one of the most prolific deepwater discoveries of the past decade. The project is expected to further consolidate Guyana’s position as a leading offshore oil producer in the Americas.
