Singapore, 25 September 2025Seatrium Offshore Technology Pte Ltd (SOT), a wholly owned subsidiary of Seatrium Limited, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), India’s largest shipbuilder and ship repairer, to enhance cooperation in the offshore sector across India and wider Asia.

Under the agreement, the two companies will leverage their complementary strengths: Seatrium’s engineering expertise, specialised offshore equipment and solutions, and CSL’s shipbuilding infrastructure, fabrication capacity, and repair know-how. The collaboration will focus on Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) projects for clients operating across Asia, while also exploring opportunities in other regional offshore markets.

Winston Cheng, Senior Vice-President and Head of SOT, described the MoU as a “strategic milestone” in Seatrium’s expansion in Asia. He emphasized India’s growing offshore energy sector and increasing demand for maritime infrastructure, highlighting the partnership’s goal to support India’s energy transition and sustainable offshore development.

Sivakumar A, General Manager of Ship Repair at CSL, noted that the agreement would strengthen CSL’s offshore footprint, stating that collaboration with Seatrium would enable both companies to deliver cost-effective, high-quality solutions to clients in the region.

The MoU sets the framework for joint marketing, project execution, and technology collaboration, laying the foundation for Seatrium’s long-term involvement in India’s offshore industry. This follows a previous agreement in November 2024 between Seatrium’s subsidiary, Letourneau USA, and CSL for joint design and supply of jack-up rig equipment for the Indian market.

With India expected to become the leading driver of global oil demand by 2030, reaching an estimated 6.6 million barrels per day, the partnership underscores both companies’ commitment to serving the country’s rapidly expanding offshore sector and positioning themselves as key players in regional energy development
