Cadeler has secured a firm turbine transport and installation contract for Wind Apex at the UK’s 1.2 GW Dogger Bank C offshore wind farm, giving the newbuild its first assignment.

The company announced the award on 4 November 2026. Wind Apex is scheduled to begin project work in Q3 2027, after its expected delivery in the first six months of that year. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Dogger Bank C will use 87 GE Vernova Haliade-X turbines rated at 14 MW each. Wind Apex will supplement the installation vessel already assigned to the project, adding capacity for turbine transport and installation offshore. Its availability also extends to unfinished work on the other Dogger Bank phases.

The ship is the third A-class unit in Cadeler’s fleet programme, after Wind Ally and Wind Ace. Designed for both foundation and turbine installation, it offers 5,600 square metres of deck area and a payload above 17,000 tonnes. Cadeler arranged a €247 million green loan facility in July to help fund the vessel’s construction.

Scotland’s Port of Nigg will handle turbine-component marshalling for Dogger Bank B and C. Across the development, all 277 foundations and transition pieces were in place by November 2025. During October, the number of turbines installed at Dogger Bank B exceeded half of the planned total.

Dogger Bank C forms the third 1.2 GW phase of the 3.6 GW development, about 130 kilometres from England’s north-east coast. SSE Renewables and Equinor each own 40%, while Vårgrønn holds 20%. SSE leads construction, and Equinor will take responsibility for operations once the project is complete.
