PaxOcean Group will build a new service operation vessel for NYK Line based on Ulstein’s ULSTEIN SX222 design, following a design contract signed with Ulstein Design & Solutions AS.
The vessel will be constructed at PaxOcean Group’s Graha yard in Batam, Indonesia, and is scheduled for delivery in 2029. It will support offshore wind construction, operations and maintenance, including accommodation and logistics for offshore personnel.
The SOV will measure 89.6 m in length and 19.2 m in beam, with accommodation for up to 120 people. It will feature Ulstein’s TWIN X-STERN configuration, with a symmetrical hull and propulsion arrangement that allows the vessel to operate in either direction.
The vessel will also be prepared for methanol and fully electric operations. It will be classed by DNV and CR and operate under the Taiwan flag.
Under the contract, Ulstein Design & Solutions AS will supply the vessel design and engineering package. Ulstein Power & Control AS will provide an integrated DC-based hybrid power and automation system covering power generation, energy storage, propulsion and vessel control.
