SPIE will deliver HVAC, mechanical, and electrical and instrumentation work for a new compression module on ONE-Dyas’ N05-A gas production platform in the Dutch North Sea.
ONE-Dyas has awarded Smulders HSM the contract to build and integrate the module. The project will be carried out by Smulders HSM, SPIE, and offshore installation partner Scaldis.
The new compression module is scheduled for integration into the existing N05-A platform from June 2027. The platform has been operational since March 2025.
The module will contain two independent compression trains, allowing operations to continue under changing pressure conditions as reservoir characteristics develop over time.
Under its contract scope, SPIE will provide systems for climate control, ventilation, and pressure management. Its mechanical work covers piping and structural supports, along with equipment installation, preservation, and testing.
The company will also handle the module’s electrical supply, cabling, safety systems, and instrumentation, including integration with the existing platform.
By managing HVAC, mechanical, and E&I activities within one scope, SPIE will reduce the number of interfaces involved in installing the new equipment on the operating platform.
The compression module is intended to support continued gas production from the N05-A field while making further use of the platform’s existing infrastructure.
N05-A is powered by electricity from the nearby German Riffgat offshore wind farm, reducing the platform’s direct operational emissions.
Marthijn van Dessel, Sector Director at SPIE in the Netherlands, said combining HVAC, mechanical, and E&I work within one package would reduce coordination between multiple parties and support more efficient project execution.
