Deltamarin Ltd. and Offshoretronic S.L. have signed an Exclusive Engineering Consultant Agreement to develop the VITRUVIAN Class jackup installation vessel platform to shipyard-ready status for future offshore wind projects.
The agreement was announced on 2 September 2026 during SMM 2026 in Hamburg. The development covers both monopile installation vessel and wind turbine installation vessel configurations for 20–30 MW wind turbines.
The companies anticipate that turbines in the 20–30 MW range will enter commercial service by 2030 and operate in water depths of 30–60 m. The monopile foundations for these turbines are expected to measure 100–130 m in length and 12–16 m in outer diameter, with weights of up to 5,000 tonnes.
The VITRUVIAN Class Monopile Installation Vessel, or MPIV, will have an overall length of 179 m and a beam of 75 m. It is being designed to handle monopiles weighing more than 3,000 tonnes while providing deck space for large foundation installation operations.
The design will also consider CAPEX and OPEX, system integration and operational workflows for worldwide operations.
Alongside the MPIV, Deltamarin Ltd. and Offshoretronic S.L. will also develop a Wind Turbine Installation Vessel, or WTIV, version of the VITRUVIAN platform.
The WTIV configuration will be designed to handle components for 20–30 MW wind turbine generators, including towers, nacelles and blades. The blades will be stored along the vessel’s longitudinal axis.
Both vessel configurations are intended to address installation requirements associated with 20–30 MW wind turbines expected to enter commercial service by 2030.
