Seatrium is preparing the PETROBRAS 80 (P-80) and PETROBRAS 82 (P-82) FPSOs to sail from Singapore to Brazil’s Búzios field within weeks of each other. The two vessels will provide a combined oil production capacity of 450,000 bopd once operational.
Each FPSO is designed to produce 225,000 bopd and process 12 million cubic metres of gas per day. Both vessels also have water injection capacity of approximately 250,000 bpd and oil storage capacity of about 2.5 million barrels each.
The P-80 and P-82 are set to become the ninth and tenth FPSOs operating in the Búzios field in the pre-salt Santos Basin. Their combined 450,000 bopd capacity represents an approximately 34% increase from the field’s current installed production capacity of about 1.3 million bopd, including P-78. Production from the two units is scheduled to begin next year.
A christening ceremony for the two FPSOs was held at Seatrium’s Tuas Boulevard Yard in Singapore on 27 August 2026.
More than 110,000 tonnes of topside modules for the P-80 and P-82 were fabricated across Seatrium yards in Singapore, China and Brazil. Integration and commissioning were completed at Tuas Boulevard Yard.
Construction of the two units also involved heavy topside module lifts using Seatrium’s pair of 30,000 t Goliath twin cranes.
The FPSOs incorporate carbon capture and reinjection capabilities, energy recovery systems and other emissions-reduction technologies as part of Petrobras’ new generation of high-capacity offshore production facilities.
The P-80 and P-82 are the 47th and 48th projects undertaken by Seatrium for Petrobras. Following the sailaway of P-78 in 2025, the two units are also the second and third turnkey FPSOs commissioned by Petrobras from Seatrium under the P-Series model.
The vessels form part of a six-unit P-Series FPSO programme comprising P-78, P-80, P-82, P-83, P-84 and P-85.
Seatrium has operated in Brazil since 1999 and said it has invested nearly S$2 billion in local capabilities. The company operates three yards in the country and has more than 12,000 employees there.
