Aker BP has started production from the Skarv Satellite Project in the Norwegian Sea, bringing the Alve Nord, Idun Nord and Ørn fields on stream one year ahead of the original schedule.
The three developments contain approximately 120 million barrels of oil equivalent of recoverable resources. Located near the Skarv field in the northern Norwegian Sea, Alve Nord, Idun Nord and Ørn were developed as separate subsea projects coordinated under the Skarv Satellite Project.
Each development consists of a subsea template and two wells tied back to the Skarv FPSO. The use of existing infrastructure gives the developments a CO₂ intensity of approximately 4.5 kilograms of CO₂ per barrel of oil equivalent.
Aker BP CEO Karl Johnny Hersvik said the start-up brings three new fields into production through a single integrated project and completes the portfolio of subsea tie-back projects sanctioned in 2022.
The project was executed through Aker BP’s alliance model with OneSubsea, Subsea7, Aker Solutions and Halliburton. Saipem participated during the drilling phase. Approximately 60 percent of the project deliveries were sourced from Norwegian suppliers.
Production from the Skarv Satellites is expected to account for a significant share of Aker BP’s production in the Skarv area for several years.
