Sarens is preparing for the July 2026 load-out of the 17,666 t Valhall PWP topside at Stord, Norway.
The operation will require 560 SPMT axle lines, 24 Power Pack Units, and weighing and ballasting systems. It follows a series of module load-out, positioning, jacking and alignment operations carried out at several Norwegian fabrication sites.
At Rosenberg Worley, Sarens handled the 4,700 t utility section. In Grimstad, the company completed the load-out of the 1,055 t MEG module using 36 SPMT axle lines and two Power Pack Units.
In Stord, Sarens raised the 4,771 t service section from 3.3 m to 4.5 m using 156 SPMT axle lines and a jack-and-pack system. The company also carried out the jacking and load-out of the 1,000 t Valhall bridge.
According to Sarens, the company has contributed to the assembly of more than 11,500 t for the project to date. The work has involved Rosenberg, Nymo, Leirvik and Aker Solutions.
The company’s scope has also included decommissioning work on the Quarters Platform and Drilling Platform at the Aker Solutions yard in Stord.
Following an engineering study covering load movements, on-site operations began in April 2025. Sarens later completed the load-out of the 11,500 t jacket at the Aker Solutions facility in Verdal.
In parallel, Sarens is supporting the Hugin A project at the Aker Solutions yard in Stord. The platform is part of the Yggdrasil development in the North Sea and has an estimated weight of 32,000 t.
Hugin A is expected to be the largest platform assembled at the Stord yard and the heaviest SPMT transport project undertaken by Sarens.
Completed operations include the load-out of the 8,365 t Utility module in Egersund and its load-in at Stord. Sarens has also completed the load-in of the 1,992 t Wellbay module and the load-out and load-in of the 1,943 t Living Quarters module between Leirvik and Stord.
The Valhall PWP-Fenris project is led by Aker BP. It is intended to extend the operational life of the Valhall field by approximately 30 years and unlock an estimated 230 million barrels of oil equivalent.
The installation will be powered from shore.
