MODEC, Inc. said the FPSO Cidade de Niterói MV18 has arrived at a ship recycling facility in Denmark after completing demobilization from the Marlim Leste oil field offshore Brazil.
The unit was owned and operated by the MODEC Group and had been deployed for the Marlim Leste development in the Campos Basin. It left Brazil after required demobilization activities were completed on 8 May 2026.
The FPSO Cidade de Niterói MV18 was contracted by Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. for the project. MODEC, Inc. carried out engineering, procurement, construction and installation on a turnkey basis.
The FPSO achieved first oil in February 2009. MODEC, Inc. then provided charter, operations and maintenance services for about 17 years. Over that period, the unit processed approximately 159 million barrels of oil.
Ship recycling is planned at the Danish facility under applicable regulations, including the EU Ship Recycling Regulation and the Hong Kong International Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships, 2009.
After the expiry of the charter and operations and maintenance services for this unit, MODEC, Inc. continues to operate and maintain FPSOs and FSOs worldwide.
