OEG has returned to the East Anglia Two offshore wind project to undertake seabed preparation work ahead of construction activities.
According to a recently issued Notice to Mariners, the campaign is being carried out 33 km off the Suffolk coast and includes unexploded ordnance (UXO) disposal, boulder clearance, and the removal of out-of-service cables.
The program began in June and is scheduled to continue through September. During the campaign, OEG will dispose of three confirmed UXOs using Low Order Deflagration techniques, relocate approximately 1,800 boulders, and remove between 12 and 15 redundant cables.
UXO disposal and boulder relocation activities are planned for June and July, while boulder clearance is expected to continue into August. The removal of out-of-service cables is scheduled for August and September.
Developed by ScottishPower Renewables, East Anglia Two is expected to move into the construction phase in 2026/2027. The project was awarded a Contract for Difference in the UK government’s Allocation Round 6 and forms part of the wider East Anglia Hub development alongside East Anglia One North and East Anglia Three.
The 960 MW offshore wind farm will comprise 64 Siemens Gamesa SG 14-236 DD wind turbines installed on monopile foundations supplied by Sif and Smulders. Smulders is also responsible for the offshore substation, while Cadeler will install both the foundations and turbines.
Earlier this year, Smulders HSM, a subsidiary of Eiffage Métal, began construction of the offshore substation topside and jacket foundation for the project.
Export cables will be supplied by Nexans, while inter-array cables will be provided by Hellenic Cables and installed by Seaway7.
