Offshore construction has started at Taiwan’s 500 MW Fengmiao offshore wind farm, with pin pile installation now underway.

The project is being developed by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and installed by CDWE. Once complete, Fengmiao will use 33 jacket foundations for 15 MW turbines supplied by Vestas, delivering renewable electricity to corporate buyers in Taiwan.

A pre piling template developed through cooperation between TWD and CDWE is now being deployed offshore. TWD said the structure is the largest pre piling template the company has supported to date.

Engineering work began early in the project, allowing installation requirements to be considered before offshore activity started. In offshore wind construction, early planning is important because vessel availability and weather windows can affect project schedules.

The template includes advanced levelling functions and retractable shims. These systems help offshore crews position and adjust the structure accurately while keeping pile alignment within required limits.

The pre piling template supports seabed preparation and pin pile placement before jacket foundations are installed. For a project with 33 jackets, precise pile positioning is important because alignment issues during piling can affect later installation work.

TWD’s scope also includes engineering for pin pile seafastening, seafastening for the pre piling template, marine studies and other installation support items.

With piling now in progress, Fengmiao has moved from planning and engineering into offshore execution, marking another step in Taiwan’s offshore wind development.
