TGS has signed a framework agreement with Galdor Exploration AS for North Sea AI exploration covering the Norwegian Continental Shelf and the wider region. The agreement, announced on 12 October 2026, covers the use of artificial intelligence alongside integrated data.

Galdor Exploration will gain access to TGS technology and data services covering the energy data value chain. The companies will also introduce AI-based exploration processes, supported by the Seismic Foundation Model developed by TGS.

Ørjan Gjerde, Galdor Exploration’s founder and CEO, said the arrangement would enable the company to use machine learning on a broad scale. Galdor aims to identify exploration prospects and advance their evaluation, including opportunities that conventional methods may have missed, undervalued or set aside.

Galdor’s approach brings together subsurface data, AI tools and specialists from several disciplines. The exploration team’s experience spans Norway’s continental shelf and other countries.

TGS CEO Kristian Johansen described the agreement as part of an approach involving closer cooperation with customers and broader use of the company’s integrated offering.

Galdor Exploration was established on 19 July 2026, a date symbolically marking 60 years since drilling began on the first exploration well in Norway.
