Sarens has completed a lifting frame load test at the Sattahip fabrication yard in Thailand’s Chonburi Province for Vatana Phaisal Engineering. The purpose-built frame is intended for the main module of an ExxonMobil industrial project.

For the principal lift, Sarens paired an SCC8000A with a CC6800 in a tandem arrangement after evaluating the yard and lifting conditions. Supporting tasks were handled by an A600, a GR300 and two STC600 cranes.

The operation formed part of the THA-Chonburi-ExxonMobil BIH 786-262 VPE project. The test checked the frame’s structural capacity ahead of operational use and followed OSHA 1926.251(a)(4), which specifies testing at 125% of the maximum working load for custom lifting accessories.

Preparations for the test included checking whether the ground could support the operation and preparing pads for the cranes. Engineers also established restricted areas, organised access to the worksite and set communication arrangements for the teams.

The main crane parts travelled by road on hydraulic trailers from Sarens’ yard in Rayong to Sattahip. Further deliveries brought counterweights and rigging alongside other crane components and accessories. Their arrival was coordinated with assembly activities and access to the site.

Following assembly, inspections and functional checks, the team increased the load in stages. Pauses at predetermined points allowed engineers to observe how the frame responded to each increase and assess its performance against the acceptance requirements.
