A missile attack on Ras Laffan Industrial City on Wednesday evening caused extensive damage, with QatarEnergy saying emergency response teams were deployed immediately to contain the resulting fires.

The company said all personnel had been accounted for and that no casualties had been reported at the time of its statement. Qatari authorities also said the fire in the Ras Laffan area had been brought under preliminary control, with no injuries reported.

Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attack, saying the strike caused fires and significant damage at the facility. It described the incident as a dangerous escalation, a violation of state sovereignty, and a direct threat to national security and regional stability.

Ras Laffan Industrial City, about an hour by road north of Doha, serves as the onshore base for processing gas and other hydrocarbons produced offshore from the North Field. Ras Laffan Port is also a major LNG export hub, with facilities for other liquid petroleum products, sulphur exports, dry cargo imports and an offshore supply vessel base.

Qatar said it had repeatedly called for the protection of civilian and energy facilities across the region, including in Iran, to support regional stability and international peace. The foreign ministry said those calls had not been heeded and accused Iran of continuing its escalation, drawing states not party to the crisis into the conflict zone.

The ministry also said Qatar viewed the attack as a breach of UN Security Council Resolution 2817 and called on the council to take action. It added that Qatar reserved the right to respond and would take all necessary measures to protect its sovereignty, security, and the safety of its citizens and residents.
