The Al Marrouna, an LNG carrier controlled by QatarEnergy, has passed eastbound through the Strait of Hormuz while broadcasting its location.

The vessel had loaded LNG in Qatar early last month. Its passage marked the first visible exit of Qatari LNG through the strait since July.

Vessel-tracking information showed the Al Marrouna in the Gulf of Oman after completing the transit. The ship listed Pakistan’s Port Qasim as its destination, with a potential arrival on Thursday.

A day earlier, tracking data had shown the vessel approaching the Strait of Hormuz with Port Qasim listed as its destination.

The transit coincided with discussions between Iran and Oman over a temporary safe-passage route through the strait. Iran’s foreign ministry said on 7 September that the negotiations had reached their final stage.

According to the ministry, an understanding on the temporary route could be registered with the International Maritime Organization within days.

Separately, US Central Command said US forces struck three Iranian crude oil carriers on 5 September.
