Penguin International Limited has been awarded a turnkey contract by Singapore’s Ministry of Defence to design, engineer and build two landing craft for the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN).
The contract marks Penguin International’s first naval shipbuilding programme as prime contractor. The Singapore shipbuilder disclosed the award through its social media.
The two landing craft will be built entirely in Singapore, with the programme drawing on the company’s engineering, production and project management resources at its Tuas shipyard.
Founded in 1976, Penguin International has built capabilities in vessel operations, engineering, shipbuilding, project management, systems integration and life-cycle maintenance.
The company’s shipyards in Singapore and Batam have delivered close to 400 vessels to commercial and government operators in more than 20 countries.
The contract follows Penguin International’s recent delivery of the first of six large carbon-fibre composite superstructures for the RSN’s Multi-Role Combat Vessel programme.
