Murphy Oil has started Lac Da Vang production offshore Vietnam. The company has also put Chinook #8 into production in the Gulf of America. Its 12 October 2026 operational update also detailed an oil find in Vietnam and appraisal results from Côte d’Ivoire.

First oil at Lac Da Vang, in Block 15-1/05, was achieved on 27 September 2026. Murphy Oil expects output to build through 2028 as more wells enter service. The forecast net production peak is approximately 10,000–15,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day during 2028–2029.

Within Block 15-1/05, exploration drilling at Lac Da Trang North-1X identified 131 feet (40 meters) of net oil pay. Water depth at the location is 147 feet (45 meters), and the well’s total measured depth was approximately 12,579 feet (3,834 meters).

The partners plan to examine the well data and consider how to appraise and develop the discovery. One possibility is a tieback to infrastructure at the nearby Lac Da Vang field.

Operator Murphy Cuu Long Bac Oil Co., a Murphy Oil subsidiary, has a 40% working interest in Block 15-1/05. The other interests are held by PetroVietnam Exploration Production Corporation, with 35%, and SK Earthon, with 25%.

At Chinook #8, initial gross output of approximately 15,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day matched expectations established before drilling. The development well, in Walker Ridge Block 425, delivers production to the Pioneer floating production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) at Cascade-Chinook.

Subsidiaries of Murphy Oil hold an 86.7% working interest in Chinook #8. Petrobras America has the other 13.3% through its stake in MP GOM.

In Côte d’Ivoire, the Bubale West-1X appraisal well in Block CI-103 found approximately 88 feet (27 meters) of net oil pay within the Turonian reservoir. The deeper Albian reservoir also contained hydrocarbons.

Bubale West-1X reached approximately 19,357 feet (5,900 meters) in total measured depth at a location with 9,039 feet (2,755 meters) of water. Murphy Oil said early findings from logging and fluid sampling suggested the presence of high-quality oil. Further appraisal at Bubale will draw on the well results alongside subsurface information already available.

Block CI-103 is operated by Murphy CI-103 Oil Co., a Murphy Oil subsidiary with an 85% working interest. Côte d’Ivoire’s PETROCI holds 15%.
