Japan’s JGC Holdings has confirmed that its share of the EPCIC contract for Eni’s Coral Norte floating LNG project in Mozambique is worth more than $1 billion.
The overall contract, valued at $5 billion, was secured by JGC, Technip Energies, and Samsung Heavy Industries. The work covers engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning for the Coral Norte development.
Technip Energies separately said the EPCIC package, together with contracts already announced for the project, is classed as a major award for the company. It uses that term for contracts expected to generate more than €1 billion ($1.15 billion) in revenue.
Coral Norte is located in Area 4 offshore Mozambique. The project will use six subsea wells connected to a floating LNG unit designed as a near copy of Coral Sul FLNG, which is already in operation.
Area 4 includes several major gas discoveries with a combined 2.4 trillion cubic meters of gas in place, equal to about 85 trillion cubic feet.
Under the lump-sum turnkey contract, a joint venture between JGC France and Technip Energies will handle the FLNG topsides and overall project management.
Samsung Heavy Industries will carry out engineering, procurement and construction for the hull, as well as fabrication of the topsides modules.
The contract was awarded by Mozambique Rovuma Venture on behalf of the Area 4 partners. The three companies had earlier been reported as participants in the project, while Technip Energies confirmed its role in February.
