GTT has announced a significant new contract from Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) for the design of liquefied natural gas storage tanks on a forthcoming Floating LNG (FLNG) facility that will be positioned offshore Africa. The order was confirmed during the third quarter of 2025.

Under the agreement, GTT will supply the engineering for the cryogenic membrane containment system, covering tanks with a combined capacity of 238,700 m³. The units will incorporate the company’s proprietary Mark III technology, a design widely adopted for its efficiency and proven safety performance in large-scale LNG operations.

This new FLNG development highlights the accelerating role of floating infrastructure in bringing gas resources to market without the need for land-based terminals. Such facilities allow producing nations to monetize reserves faster and with greater flexibility, especially in regions where onshore installations face logistical or regulatory hurdles.

GTT’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Philippe Berterottière emphasized the project’s broader significance, stating: “We are proud to contribute our unique expertise to this major FLNG project, which will help harness Africa’s energy potential to support sustainable growth and energy supply. This order confirms the trust of our long-standing partner Samsung Heavy Industries and demonstrates the relevance of GTT’s technologies to support the development of efficient, reliable and safe floating LNG infrastructure.”

The collaboration further reinforces GTT’s longstanding relationship with SHI and its positioning as a key enabler of floating LNG ventures worldwide.
