ExxonMobil has halted production at the Liza Unity FPSO in the Stabroek block offshore Guyana after a fire was detected aboard the vessel over the weekend.

Heat detectors in the laundry room of the FPSO’s living quarters were triggered during the incident. ExxonMobil said the fire was small and was extinguished quickly.

Oil and gas operations were then stopped as part of the established safety response and to meet safety requirements. The company said production will restart once the required checks have been completed.

The shutdown also affected crude oil offloading from Liza Unity.
