ExxonMobil Angola Lead Country Manager Brian Unietis will present the company’s upstream strategy at the Angola Oil & Gas 2026 conference in Luanda, as it advances Block 15 redevelopment and evaluates new offshore exploration acreage.

Unietis, who assumed the role in late 2025, oversees a portfolio focused on adding production from existing infrastructure, extending the operating life of mature fields and assessing opportunities in new offshore basins. These activities support Angola’s objective of maintaining crude production above one million barrels per day.

In April 2026, ExxonMobil awarded Subsea7 an engineering, procurement, construction and installation contract for the Likembe Redevelopment 2.0 Project. The project will connect additional reservoirs to existing Block 15 facilities through subsea tiebacks.

The company and its Block 15 partners also reached a final investment decision in 2025 to extend production from the Mondo and Saxi-Batuque fields. The decision followed the extension of the block’s production licence through 2037.

Alongside the redevelopment program, ExxonMobil is expanding its exploration activity beyond established producing assets. In 2026, the company partnered with TotalEnergies and Angola’s National Agency for Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels to secure exploration rights across several blocks in the Benguela and Namibe basins.

Geological evaluation is continuing following ExxonMobil’s first exploration drilling campaign in the Namibe Basin. Further subsurface assessments are underway in the Free Areas of Blocks 17/06 and 32/21.

The company has also signed a long-term charter agreement with Bourbon Mobility for a new fleet of fuel-efficient crew transfer vessels scheduled to enter service in 2027. Separate management programs are being deployed for naturally occurring radioactive material generated during mature offshore operations.

Angola Oil & Gas 2026 will take place in Luanda on 9–10 September 2026, following a pre-conference day on 8 September. The event will bring together government representatives, operators and investors to discuss upstream investment and offshore development in Angola.
