DOF Group ASA has won a turnkey award from MODEC Guyana Inc. to handle mooring pre-lay activities for the Hammerhead FPSO development off Guyana.
Announced on 19 January, the work will be run by DOF’s North America subsea organisation, which is tasked with providing project management, engineering, procurement, logistics base support, transportation and offshore installation using in-house resources.
The offshore scope combines pile and mooring operations. Piles will be installed with the Skandi Implementer, while mooring lines will be laid by the Skandi Skansen. Field execution is planned for Q2 and Q3 2027.
Chief Executive Officer Mons S. Aase said the contract underlines how DOF’s subsea and mooring services can be delivered as a single turnkey package, drawing on internal expertise and high-spec assets.
The assignment supports MODEC’s Hammerhead FPSO project in Guyana’s offshore basin, where preparations continue for additional future production schemes. ExxonMobil is also seeking an insurance broker for the Hammerhead development.
Hammerhead is the seventh offshore oil project for ExxonMobil in the Stabroek Block. The development is expected to produce about 150,000 barrels of oil per day once operations start in 2029, subject to regulatory approvals. When Hammerhead comes online, Guyana’s total offshore production capacity is forecast to rise above 1.4 million barrels per day.
