Maldives President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu confirmed that the Boskalis trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) PRINS DER NEDERLANDEN has reached the Maldives to accelerate land reclamation at Hulhumalé 3 and Giraavaru Lagoon. He stated that with the vessel added to the project fleet, work on Hulhumalé 3 is expected to be completed by the end of next month.

According to the President, the dredger is scheduled to begin operations tomorrow, supporting the final phase of reclamation activities. The vessel’s deployment is intended to increase overall production rates and shorten the remaining project timeline.

Reclamation for Hulhumalé 3, which had paused after partial progress linked to land allocation, resumed on 10 November to recover the remaining 38 hectares. The full programme, awarded to Capital Marine and Civil Construction (CMC), targets a total of 63 hectares.

The PRINS DER NEDERLANDEN departed Singapore on 16 November and reached Malé Anchorage on 25 November, joining ongoing works at the site.
