DEME Group’s newest wind turbine installation vessel, Norse Wind, has entered sea trials off Yantai, China, marking a major step toward its scheduled delivery in the fourth quarter of 2025. The ship left CIMC Raffles shipyard in late August and is undergoing speed, endurance, DP2, and unmanned machinery tests, supported by about 20 DEME specialists.

Before sailing, the vessel completed a full-height jacking trial, extending its 124-meter legs to raise the hull 91 meters above the seabed. Other completed works include welding of tower grillage, blade rack structures, and machining of tower flanges. The next phase, a main crane load test, will follow once the vessel returns to port.

With trials progressing smoothly, DEME is reinforcing its fleet to meet rising offshore wind demand, highlighting its strategic push to support large-scale turbine installation projects worldwide.
