Pacifico Energy Vietnam has launched a survey programme covering planned offshore wind capacity of up to 1.8 GW, with PTSC Marine G&S carrying out the initial package. The developer and Petrovietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC) held the launch ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City on 13 October 2026.

The first stage will combine geophysical work with metocean investigations. Data on seabed features, geology and natural conditions will be gathered for technical evaluation and project design.

Pacifico Energy says the two developments could draw more than USD 6 billion in investment. Vietnamese firms could take part in surveys and fabrication, provide port and logistics services, and support both construction and subsequent operations, according to the developer.

The programme covers Nam Bo, a planned 500 MW wind farm off Ho Chi Minh City, and Nam Trung Bo 3, planned at up to 1.3 GW off Lam Dong Province. Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Environment authorised the Nam Bo survey in February 2026. Nam Trung Bo 3 received its survey licence in September.

In its sea survey licence announcement, Pacifico Energy explained that the studies would assess the authorised area and establish a basis for design, to prepare for subsequent permits and investment steps.

The US developer began its activities in Vietnam in 2017 and operates the Mui Ne solar plant, rated at 40 MW, and the 30 MW Sunpro wind farm. It has made offshore wind a priority for its long-term development in the country.

Pacifico Energy also has three developments in South Korea’s 3.2 GW Jindo Offshore Wind Project Cluster: Myeong Ryang, with 420 MW; Manho, with 990 MW; and Jindo Baram, with 1.8 GW.
