Acta Marine’s service operation vessel Acta Gemini has started a long-term charter with RWE to support the 1.4 GW Sofia Offshore Wind Farm in the UK.
The vessel will operate from Grimsby, providing offshore accommodation and Walk-to-Work services for technicians and specialists involved in commissioning and future operation and maintenance activities at the project.
Acta Gemini began the charter after completing its shakedown and mobilisation period. The vessel was delivered by Tersan Shipyard in June 2026 and is the third vessel in Acta Marine’s series of four newbuild (C)SOVs.
The vessel can accommodate up to 88 personnel and is equipped with an offshore access system, a helideck and two daughter crafts for transfers between the vessel and offshore installations.
Sofia Offshore Wind Farm is located on Dogger Bank in the North Sea, around 195 km off the UK’s north-east coast.
Once fully operational, the 1.4 GW project is expected to generate enough renewable electricity to supply the equivalent of 1.2 million UK homes.
