Nantong Rainbow Offshore & Engineering Equipment (ROC) has added a new batch of platform supply vessel projects after signing multiple construction contracts with an overseas shipowner.
The contracts cover a series of 5,000-tonne and 4,500-tonne PSVs designed to support offshore platforms in deep-sea operating environments. The vessels will combine large cargo capacity with tunnel and retractable thrusters, along with battery technology.
A key part of the design is the thruster arrangement. Each vessel will have a tunnel thruster at the bow as well as a retractable thruster. According to ROC, this setup is designed to improve dynamic positioning capability and help the vessels maintain their position in adverse sea conditions.
Cargo flexibility is another focus of the design. With a spacious flush deck and large deadweight capacity, the PSVs will be able to transport drilling equipment, fuel, fresh water, dry bulk materials and special cargoes.
The vessels will also be equipped to recover and transfer oily water from offshore platforms. This means they can handle routine supply work while also supporting integrated maintenance operations.
Compared with its conventional PSV designs, ROC said the optimized model offers greater cargo capacity and improved overall adaptability. Battery technology is also included in the vessel specification.
According to the company, the design is intended to reduce transport frequency during far-sea operations, improve the operating efficiency of offshore projects and lower lifecycle operation and maintenance costs for shipowners.
The latest contracts add another series of PSV construction projects to ROC‘s offshore engineering vessel business.
