Ventyr has been given an additional 12 months to file its licence application for the Sørlige Nordsjø II offshore wind project in Norway.
Norway’s Ministry of Energy has moved the submission deadline to 15 October 2027. Sørlige Nordsjø II is planned with a maximum capacity of 1.5 GW and is Norway’s first commercial offshore wind project.
The developer requested more time in June 2026. Ventyr, a consortium formed by JERA Nex BP and Ingka Investments, plans to use part of the extension period to examine an alternative landfall and grid connection route.
The option, known as G 2.0, includes infrastructure planned near the existing Lista substation at Alcoa’s aluminium plant. It would be developed in connection with the Sørlige Nordsjø II converter station, with further studies planned for the route.
In June, Ventyr said unexpected project challenges and difficult macroeconomic conditions in the offshore wind sector had slowed development and planning work.
The consortium won the Sørlige Nordsjø II development rights in March 2024 with a bid of NOK 1.15/kWh, equivalent to EUR 0.099/kWh. The auction covered 1.5 GW in the fixed-bottom Sørlige Nordsjø II development zone.
