BOA Offshore’s semi-submersible heavy-lift barge BOABARGE 38 arrived at Chioggia on 15 July 2026 to load two 800-tonne Goliath cranes built by Cimolai Technology.
The cranes are scheduled to be transported fully assembled from Chioggia to Fincantieri’s Monfalcone shipyard in the coming weeks. Cimolai Technology said the units had been engineered, fabricated, assembled and tested at Porto Val da Rio before the planned sea transport.
Each crane has a lifting capacity of 800 tonnes. The two units have a span of 118 m and can operate separately or in tandem, providing a combined lifting capacity of 1,600 tonnes.
Built in 2022, BOABARGE 38 measures 152 m long, 38 m wide and 9.15 m deep. The barge has a deadweight of 28,500 tonnes, a deck area of 5,150 m² and a deck strength of 35 t/m².
The vessel can submerge to a water level of 21.5 m above its deck. Its ballast system has a pumping capacity of 12,000 m³ per hour, and the barge is fitted with four removable flotation towers.
Following the loading operation in Chioggia, BOABARGE 38 is expected to depart for Monfalcone with the two cranes.
