Halliburton deployed LOGIX automation and remote operations on a deepwater exploration well with Eni offshore Indonesia, the company announced on 9 July 2026.

The deployment combined full rig automation with managed pressure drilling (MPD) for the first application of this capability in Asia Pacific. Surface rig equipment, automated well placement, downhole hydraulics and MPD controls were connected within a closed-loop automated system.

LOGIX Orchestration coordinated drilling and tripping activities with pressure management through a single workflow. The system delivered consistent performance and pressure control in a well with narrow operating margins.

According to Halliburton, the combination of LOGIX Orchestration and MPD improved efficiency by more than 15% while maintaining well control.

The project brought together Eni’s operational expertise and Halliburton’s automation technology. Drill-floor control, subsurface automation and pressure management were aligned within a single system.

Jim Collins, vice president of Sperry Drilling at Halliburton, said LOGIX Orchestration coordinates real-time decisions across surface, subsurface and downhole systems. He said integrating rig automation with MPD improved control and consistency in the deepwater operation.

The deployment also introduced LOGIX automation and remote operations in Indonesia.
