OneSubsea has secured an engineering, procurement and construction contract from BP for a subsea boosting system at Thunder Horse in the deepwater Gulf of America.

The award follows a final investment decision by BP and ExxonMobil to add around 15,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day of peak gross annual average production at Thunder Horse.

OneSubsea, SLB’s joint venture with Aker Solutions and Subsea7, will provide the subsea boosting system, including project management, engineering, manufacturing and testing.

The contract follows earlier subsea boosting awards for BP’s Kaskida and Tiber developments. The three projects use the same supplier-led, standardized subsea boosting system, supporting more efficient execution and shorter delivery schedules.

OneSubsea said its subsea processing technology is designed to increase production and improve recovery. The standardized approach is also expected to support faster deployment and better operational efficiency.

Mads Hjelmeland, CEO of SLB OneSubsea, said subsea boosting is an important tool for extending production from existing assets. He said standardized subsea solutions help operators improve production, recovery and overall field performance.

First oil from the Thunder Horse subsea pump project is expected in 2028. Kaskida is expected to begin production in 2029, followed by Tiber in 2030.
