The final batch of core components for the Inch Cape offshore wind project has set sail for the North Sea off the coast of Scotland, UK.
The shipment includes eight offshore wind jacket structures and accompanying steel equipment with a total weight of 19,500 tonnes, described in the source as roughly equivalent to the combined weight of 15,000 passenger cars.
The tallest single jacket structure stands at 95.4 m, which the source compares to the height of a 35-storey residential building.
For the transport, COSCO SHIPPING used the large semi-submersible vessel XIN YAO HUA. According to the company, the vessel matched the technical requirements for shipping ultra-large jackets in bulk and completed the loading operation safely, smoothly and efficiently.
