The Dogger Bank Wind Farm and Seaway7 have now completed installation of all 277 transition pieces, closing out foundation works for the three-phase offshore wind farm in the North Sea, described as the world’s largest offshore wind farm.

The heavy-lift vessel Seaway Alfa Lift installed the 87th and final transition piece on its monopile foundation at Dogger Bank C, the third phase of the scheme, in late November. This final lift followed earlier campaigns that placed 95 transition pieces at Dogger Bank A and another 95 at Dogger Bank B.

In total, Seaway7 has now installed 554 foundation assets on Dogger Bank. The latest transition piece campaign builds on the earlier installation of 277 monopiles during the construction programme, executed using the heavy-lift vessel Seaway Strashnov.

According to Alan Evans, Senior Project Manager on Dogger Bank Wind Farm, the project team is celebrating the safe and successful installation of more than 500 foundation assets across the three phases over the last three years. He notes that Dogger Bank and Seaway7, together with their sub-suppliers, have maintained a strong working relationship while managing a demanding and technically complex scope. Evans adds that the project now has solid foundations in place to support 277 generating assets, which will contribute to a cleaner, more secure, and more affordable renewable-led energy system.

Bruce Willox, Project and Operations Director at Seaway7, states that installing the foundations for the world’s largest offshore wind farm is a major achievement for the company. Over the last three years, he explains, hundreds of components and more than a thousand lifts have been completed, reflecting a scale rarely seen in offshore construction. Delivering the full scope across all three phases enabled Seaway7 to sharpen its approach to safety, performance, and efficiency.

Willox highlights that the Dogger Bank programme demonstrates what can be achieved through strong partnership, shared ambition, and the commitment of skilled personnel working both onshore and offshore. He adds that Seaway7 is proud to have played a central role in progressing Dogger Bank Wind Farm and expresses thanks to the company’s client and partners for their trust and collaboration.
