Abu Dhabi’s AD Ports Group has begun deploying Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite services across its global fleet and terminal network, marking a significant step in its digital transformation strategy.
The initiative will deliver high-speed, low-latency communications to support real-time vessel tracking, predictive maintenance, route optimisation, and automated cargo monitoring. Several of the group’s vessels have already been equipped with the new technology, with port terminals set to follow in the coming months.
AD Ports Group manages 34 terminals in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Central and Southwest Asia. With LEO connectivity, the company aims to guarantee seamless communications, boost cargo handling efficiency, and strengthen emergency response capabilities, even in remote or challenging environments.
According to the company, LEO satellite networks will serve as the backbone of its technology ecosystem, enabling fuel optimisation, enhanced visibility across the supply chain, and uninterrupted operations regardless of location.
The rollout underlines AD Ports Group’s ambition to position itself at the forefront of smart and connected maritime infrastructure, blending advanced digital solutions with operational resilience on a global scale.
