TSUNEISHI KURE DOCKYARD Co., Ltd., one of the TSUNEISHI SHIPBUILDING Segment companies, has finalised renewal work on the No.2 Floating Dock at its Wakaba Works, with the upgraded facility planned to enter service in November 2025. The project was carried out to address ageing infrastructure and maintain the company’s ability to provide safe, dependable and quality-focused repair operations for clients in Japan and abroad.
The company has supported repair needs for a broad range of vessels over many years. This latest renewal supports its continued responsiveness to customer requirements, including expectations regarding workplace safety and environmental considerations.
Key elements of the refurbishment included expanding crane capacity by installing a second unit, adopting remote-control functions for crane operations, and replacing the dock’s lighting with LED systems. These updates have improved on-site visibility, enhanced work efficiency and supported a safer working environment while reducing environmental load.
In a statement, Mr SAEKI Naohiko, President of TSUNEISHI KURE DOCKYARD Co., Ltd., noted that the renewal reflects feedback from on-site teams and has strengthened both the facility’s safety and operational efficiency. He added that the renewal is an important step in transferring knowledge and trust to the next generation, and that the company will continue supporting customers’ secure operations.
TSUNEISHI KURE states that it remains committed to maintaining high service standards with an emphasis on safety and environmental care.
