Northern Ocean expects Deepsea Mira to remain idle into Q1 2027 after several 2026 opportunities did not materialise and other drilling programmes were delayed.

Northern Ocean said Deepsea Mira completed its Shell contract on 2 July 2026 and is demobilizing to Walvis Bay for planned upgrades after generating about $31 million in revenue.

Shell has chartered the semi-submersible rig Deepsea Mira from Northern Ocean for a one-well drilling campaign offshore Namibia starting in April 2026, with an option well and $16 million of firm backlog.

Rhino Resources and Northern Ocean have extended the Deepsea Mira drilling contract offshore Namibia, adding an extra well test and increasing the firm backlog to $394 million.
