Stena Drilling and Keystone have entered into a new MoU that sets out a plan to develop a next-generation, automation-driven well delivery approach aimed at making drilling operations safer, more efficient, and more transparent.

Under the collaboration, Keystone will provide its digital capabilities for well planning and execution, while Stena Drilling contributes offshore operating know-how and its established well delivery framework. The partners intend to use this combination to ease the shift from office planning into rig execution and to support more integrated digital workflows over the course of drilling campaigns.

Planned joint workstreams include creating systems that automatically generate operational reports, configuring NOVOS so that workflows connect well plans directly with rig-site execution, linking activity scheduling with maintenance planning, and building shared operational insight platforms that enable multiple parties to work from a common set of data.

According to the partners, the MoU marks the beginning of a coordinated effort to assess and further develop digital technologies for drilling that are intended to benefit operators and service partners. Stena Drilling added that it looks forward to deepening the collaboration with Keystone and to examining how its digital tools for drilling can continue to support operators and partner service companies as their needs change.
