Seaway Osprey completes discharge of Rem Pioneer hull at Gurskefjorden

The semi-submersible heavy-load carrier Seaway Osprey, operated by Seaway 7, has completed discharging the hull of newbuild 82 – Rem Pioneer at Gurskefjorden, Norway, ahead of towing to Myklebust Verft. The carrier is considered likely the largest vessel to have visited the fjord.

Seaway Osprey arrived in Gurskefjorden on 26 November, after which preparations for the float-off operation commenced. During the procedure, the vessel was submerged so that the hull could be released from the deck and moved toward the yard for final positioning.

The transport commenced after the hull was loaded in Haiphong, Vietnam, on 5 October.

The Seaway Osprey is a 36-year-old vessel, built in 1989 as a tanker and converted into a semi-submersible heavy transport vessel in 2008. Operating under the Norwegian flag, the ship features a free deck length of 157 m and a free deck area of 6,900 m².
