Seatrium has held a steel-cutting ceremony for the conversion of LNGT Karadeniz into a floating storage and regasification unit for Karpowership.
The vessel is the eighth FSRU conversion awarded to Seatrium by Karpowership. It is also the first of three FSRU conversion projects covered by a letter of intent signed by the companies in 2025, according to Seatrium’s first-quarter 2026 business update.
Seatrium announced the conversion contract on 9 March 2026. At the time of the award, work on LNGT Karadeniz was scheduled to commence in the third quarter of 2026.
Following conversion, LNGT Karadeniz will be Karpowership’s first high-capacity FSRU, with regasification capacity of up to 600 million standard cubic feet per day.
The conversion work covers the installation and integration of regasification systems, LNG transfer and cargo-handling systems, mooring arrangements, utilities, electrical distribution, automation and control systems.
Interyards, identified in the LinkedIn post as Seatrium’s exclusive partner, reported the steel-cutting ceremony and outlined the systems included in the project.
The ceremony follows the delivery of LNGT Powership Oceania, another FSRU conversion completed by Seatrium for Karpowership.
