Seadrill Limited reported multiple contracting updates on 21 January 2026 covering West Capella, West Elara, and West Carina.

In Malaysia, the ultra-deepwater drillship West Capella was awarded a well-based program by an undisclosed operator. The campaign is expected to start in the second quarter of 2026 and run for an estimated 440 days, with priced options for three additional wells. The firm term is valued at about $157 million, including a $5 million mobilization fee and excluding additional services.

In Norway, West Elara secured an accommodation contract with Equinor AS on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. The program is anticipated to begin in the third quarter of 2026 and continue into the fourth quarter of 2027, valued at $78 million, plus three priced options of three months each. Ahead of the award, Seadrill reached a mutual agreement with the existing contract holder to make the unit available. The updated schedule results in a net increase in total contract value of $23 million.

In Brazil, West Carina had its current contract extended through April 2026. President and Chief Executive Officer Simon Johnson said the reactivation of West Capella materially enhances the company’s earnings potential in a region where offshore drilling demand has strengthened, and described the West Elara award as a collaborative solution to a potential gap in operations.
