Heerema Marine Contractors has completed the offshore foundation installation campaign for the Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea within the project schedule.
The four-month campaign was carried out for the Equinor-Polenergia joint venture and covered foundations for 100 wind turbines and two offshore substations.
Using its semi-submersible crane vessel Thialf, Heerema Marine Contractors installed 100 monopiles, 100 transition pieces and two offshore substation jackets. The vessel was supported by a fleet of approximately 35 vessels during the campaign.
The work brought together multiple fabrication yards, ports, marine contractors and offshore work fronts. At peak activity, Heerema Marine Contractors managed and operated approximately 15 vessels simultaneously across the project area.
The supporting vessels handled transportation, marine coordination, noise mitigation, crew transfer, grouting, bolting and other offshore activities.
Heerema Marine Contractors is scheduled to return to the Baltic Sea this winter to install the Bałtyk 2 offshore substation. Installation of the Bałtyk 3 offshore substation is planned for summer 2027.
Chief executive Marcel de Nooijer said completion of the campaign involved more than delivering 100 foundations and two offshore substations. He said Bałtyk 2 and Bałtyk 3 would become an important source of renewable electricity for Poland, supporting the country’s energy transition and long-term energy security.
