Belgium-based DEME has secured a new contract to deliver transport and installation services for inter-array cables at the Nordseecluster B offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
The Nordseecluster project, jointly developed by RWE (51%) and Norges Bank Investment Management (49%), will have a total capacity of up to 1.6 GW, providing renewable energy equivalent to powering around 1.6 million households. Located approximately 50 kilometers north of Juist Island, the wind farm is one of the largest offshore wind initiatives currently underway in Germany.
Under the contract, DEME will handle the transport and installation of 124 kilometers of inter-array cables. These cables will connect 60 turbine foundations to the offshore substation, ensuring reliable transmission of generated electricity. The scope of work also includes engineering, preparation, and supporting activities, making DEME responsible for delivering a full turnkey solution.
Construction and operational oversight of the Nordseecluster offshore wind farms remain under the responsibility of RWE, which will manage the project throughout its lifecycle.
This agreement marks another milestone in DEME’s offshore wind portfolio, reinforcing the company’s position as a key contractor in Europe’s expanding renewable energy sector.
