DEME has announced that its Taiwanese joint venture, CDWE, has been awarded a substantial contract for the Formosa 4 offshore wind farm. The scope of work includes the transport and installation of 35 foundations, the offshore substation, and scour protection works.

The Formosa 4 project, developed by Synera Renewable Energy, will be built approximately 20 kilometers off Miaoli County. Once completed, the wind farm is expected to deliver 495 MW of renewable energy, reinforcing Taiwan’s commitment to its energy transition.

To execute the project, DEME will mobilize several of its fleet, including the floating offshore installation vessel Green Jade, the first such vessel designed and built in Taiwan. A rock placement vessel will also be deployed to carry out scour protection operations.

DEME has maintained a strong presence in Taiwan since 2019, when it co-founded CDWE, the country’s first dedicated offshore wind contractor. Since then, it has supported key developments including Zhong Neng, Changfang Xidao, Hai Long, and Greater Changhua.

Frank Jonckheere, General Manager Asia-Pacific – Offshore Energy, said the Formosa 4 contract highlights DEME’s track record in Taiwan: “We are proud to play a significant role in advancing Taiwan’s clean energy transition and supporting its long-term vision for renewables. Through CDWE, we provide integrated solutions while nurturing local marine engineering talents and offshore wind specialists who will drive the industry forward for years to come.”

Subject to the project’s final investment decision, foundation installation works are scheduled to begin in the first half of 2027.
