Oslo, Norway — September 30, 2025 — Offshore services provider DeepOcean has been awarded an installation contract by Equinor under the Norwegian operator’s SIMOPRO (Simultaneous Marine Operations and Production) program. The agreement covers subsea and topside installation work at the Åsgård and Visund fields on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
Under the scope of the contract, DeepOcean will be responsible for project management, engineering, procurement, and offshore execution. The SIMOPRO operations involve executing marine installation activities while maintaining production at the host platforms, a method requiring high-level coordination and stringent safety planning.
Olav A. Hansen, Managing Director of DeepOcean Europe, said the company’s previous track record with Equinor in similar SIMOPRO projects was a key factor in this award. “This type of operation demands detailed planning and close collaboration between operator and contractor. We are proud to be trusted again to deliver such technically demanding work,” Hansen stated.
At the Åsgård field, DeepOcean’s scope includes removal of existing risers, installation of new production risers and dynamic umbilicals, and connection of the Berling subsea field to the Åsgård B platform. The company will also install two static umbilicals, flying leads, and protective structures. Åsgård is located about 200 kilometers off the coast of mid-Norway, in water depths of 240 to 300 meters.
At Visund, located approximately 140 kilometers west of Florø in the North Sea at a water depth of around 335 meters, the company will replace an existing production riser.
Hansen added that DeepOcean will prepare for the offshore campaign with simulator-based training for vessel crews to ensure safe and controlled offshore operations. The installation work is scheduled to be carried out during the main summer season of 2026, utilizing the high-capacity construction vessel Edda Freya.
DeepOcean provides subsea services including survey, engineering, project management, installation, maintenance, and decommissioning. The company focuses on enabling the energy transition and developing unmanned, digital offshore operation solutions. DeepOcean is owned by Triton, a European private equity firm specializing in mid-market investments.
