October 7, 2025 – Damietta, Egypt.
Damietta Alliance Container Terminals (DACT) has received the final batch of electrified Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) cranes, completing a major stage in the terminal’s development and marking its readiness to commence operations by late 2025.

The final shipment — consisting of ten electrified RTGs — was transported aboard the heavy-lift vessel GUANG FU (IMO: 9998028). The Liberian-flagged vessel, measuring 199.9 meters in length and 32 meters in beam, safely delivered the cranes to Damietta Port earlier this week.

This latest delivery brings the terminal’s total to 40 electrified RTGs, forming part of DACT’s investment in fully electric container handling systems aimed at reducing emissions and enhancing operational efficiency.

DACT stated that the milestone underscores Egypt’s broader strategy to modernize its port infrastructure and advance green port initiatives through the adoption of electrified equipment.

Working closely with the Egyptian Ministry of Transport and the Damietta Port Authority, DACT confirmed that the terminal’s equipment installation phase is now complete, paving the way for commissioning and training activities in the coming months.

Once operational, the Damietta Alliance Terminal is expected to strengthen Egypt’s position as a strategic logistics hub in the Eastern Mediterranean, supporting the country’s growing container trade and sustainable development goals.
