Cadeler has taken delivery of Wind Ace, its eleventh offshore wind installation vessel and the second of three A-class newbuilds.

The vessel was delivered on 17 July 2026 after two years of construction at the COSCO Shipping Offshore shipyard in Qidong, China. The project was completed on schedule and within budget, with more than 3.5 million working hours recorded without a lost-time accident.

Following mobilisation, Wind Ace will prepare for deployment on ScottishPower Renewables’ East Anglia TWO offshore wind farm in the UK.

Under firm contracts announced in 2024, Cadeler will transport and install all 64 wind turbine generators and their foundations. Offshore work is scheduled to begin in 2027, with Wind Ace operating alongside one of Cadeler’s O-class vessels.

East Anglia TWO is a 960 MW offshore wind farm under development in the North Sea off the south-east coast of England. ScottishPower Renewables, part of the Iberdrola Group, is developing the project.

Once operational, the wind farm is expected to generate enough renewable electricity to power the equivalent of almost one million homes.

Wind Ace is designed for the transportation and installation of both XXL monopile foundations and next-generation wind turbine generators. Its hybrid design allows the vessel to be converted between foundation and wind turbine installation scopes within a short period.

The vessel was officially named earlier this year by Lisa Western of ScottishPower Renewables, who serves as its godmother. The naming reflected the cooperation between the two companies and the vessel’s planned role in East Anglia TWO.

With the delivery of Wind Ace, Cadeler now operates 11 offshore wind installation vessels. Its third A-class vessel, Wind Apex, is scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2027.
