China-based BOMESC Offshore Engineering has secured a contract worth between $240 million and $312 million from SBM Offshore for topside modules for an FPSO destined for South America.

The contract was signed between BOMESC’s wholly owned subsidiary Tianjin BOMESC Offshore Engineering and Single Buoy Moorings Inc., a subsidiary of SBM Offshore. It took effect on 24 September 2026 and has an estimated value of RMB 1.6 billion to RMB 2.1 billion.

The scope covers the design, procurement and construction of FPSO topside modules. The work will be carried out at BOMESC’s Lingang Offshore Heavy Industry Construction Base, with completion scheduled for the second half of 2028.

Under the contract, the completed modules will be delivered on an FOB basis aboard a vessel at BOMESC’s wharf. Payments will be made according to project progress and agreed contractual milestones.

The award follows a long-term cooperation framework signed by Tianjin BOMESC and Single Buoy Moorings in March 2026. The framework covers potential cooperation on FPSO topside module fabrication, integration and related construction services, while specific projects are subject to separate agreements.

In its half-year 2026 results, SBM Offshore separately reported several FPSO projects under development, including contracts for SEAP I and SEAP II in Brazil. However, neither BOMESC’s disclosed contract information nor SBM Offshore’s available project disclosures identify which FPSO will receive the modules covered by the new contract.
